In WWII Lieutenant Arnold Bernfeld was assigned to the 8th Air Force, 509th Bombardment Squadron, 351st Bombardment Group (H) stationed at Polebrook, England. As a bombardier he flew on B-17G “Faith.”

B-8 flying goggles were the first to use a rubber frame instead of metal. This type by Polaroid came with a set of different colored lenses to use during changing weather conditions.
