Dutch East Indies Bracelet

Description

Technical Sergeant Robert J. Bien was an aerial engineer and flight mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942-1945 assigned to the 22nd Troop Carrier Squadron stationed in Australia and New Guinea.

He liked to work with tools and machinery and made this bracelet from coins and aircraft sheet metal. The middle plate is stamped Dutch E. Indies. Three coins are attached to each side and to each other with small strips of metal. The two large coins are 1/4 Gulden. All are dated 1941 or 1942.
