Watchband

Description

Technical Sergeant Robert J. Bien was an aerial engineer and flight mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942-1945 assigned to the 22nd Troop Carrier Squadron stationed in Australia and New Guinea.

He liked to work with tools and machinery and made this watchband from aircraft metal. It has two prongs to hold a timepiece. The band also has a slider and three holes to create an adjustable fit. Riveted on the sides of the band are small pieces of metal with Japanese characters.
